Many fans of "Doctor Who," who have been eagerly anticipating the premiere of season 10, will be glad to know that the production team will purportedly start filming soon.

As per Radio Times, BBC announced that the schedule of shooting will start in May of this year with Peter Capaldi still portraying the lead role in, what appears to be, his last season.

Many have been wondering about the real reason why Capaldi decided to step down from the role after season 10.

As per a report, the 50-year-old actor is suffering from a knee injury which, coincidentally, was the same injury that previous 'Doctor Who' actor Matt Smith also had.

"I have the exactly the same injury Matt had, Peter Capaldi said, according to Movie News Guide. When I first met Matt he was on crutches, and I asked, 'What happened to you? And he said, 'This show mate.'"

Furthermore, Capaldi explained how he plans to make up for his health condition.

"You have to be fit to do 'Doctor Who'," he noted, according to Christian Post.  "When we start, it'll run for nine months and the most important thing is to be there and to be fit and be on top of everything... I'm looking forward to starting."

Meanwhile, there have been discussions on who the next 'Doctor Who' should be.

Maisie Williams, who is notable for her role as Arya Stark in "Game of Thrones" has been vocal about wanting Idris Elba for the part and that she is also open to taking the role.

"I think a black doctor would be incredible," Williams said, according to Irish Examiner. "I'm all for Idris Elba - but if not I'll take it for the team and do it!"

However, she also expressed that right now she is currently in between other roles and that a new main role might be difficult.

"Yes it would be cool but right now I'm locked into some other things," Williams told Evening Standard. "I think a female doctor would be incredible."

"Doctor Who" season 10 will reportedly premiere early 2017, according to Den of Geek.
