Rumors state that the release date for "Tekken X Street Fighter" is being delayed as the makers Bandai Namco and Capcom are currently focusing more on "Tekken 7" and "Street Fighter V," according to Christian Daily.
The crossover fighting game "Tekken X Street Fighter" was first announced alongside the "Street Fighter vs. Tekken" reveal at SDCC in 2010.
As the makers did not announce any further information on the game, fans have been speculating about a possible cancellation of the crossover fighting game.
However, it was last year that Katsuhiro Harada, the "Tekken" series producer, assured fans that the makers are not going to cancel the game.
During an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, translated by Siliconera, when Harada was asked if the makers had forgotten about "Tekken X Street Fighter," he responded by saying "No."
"That's not true!" he replied, reported Gamespot. "I've been saying this since before, but the fact of the matter is that we're at a pretty far stage into its development."
Harada revealed that work on the cross fighting game has already started with polygon models done and the character lineup decided.
"It might seem like we haven't started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago," he said. "And we've already finished the polygon models, moves, and systems."
The Tekken producer said that the gaming studio has not yet decided on the "Tekken X Street Fighter" release date.
"It's still in development, and it is moving forward, but that's on the development side," Harada said.
"So obviously, with all of the products, there's that special timing that we need for that to have its own spotlight. So on the marketing side, it's a special situation, but we can say that it hasn't been cancelled, so please relax."
It is expected that "Tekken X Street Fighter" release date will get announced soon.
