With the Houston Rockets struggling to attain the last Western conference playoff spot, the team may look to make some big trades before the deadline.
As per bleacherreport.com, general manager Daryl Morey previously spoke about the team's struggles earlier in the season and the potential roster moves that were coming.
"We will change until it's working," Morey said. We win at the Rockets. Mr. [Leslie] Alexander does not accept losing. I don't accept losing. The players, no one accepts losing. We've been the fifth-most winning franchise since Mr. Alexander's owned the team. We're going to do whatever it takes to win."
However, the general manager known for heavy usage of basketball analytics said that those improvements don't necessarily mean trading players.
"What I meant by that is we're going to work on everything," Morey clarified. "The trade option] is just one thing. The coaching staff is working on changes continuously. I think people are seeing different guys playing, different rotations, different starters."
Despite this, Morey ended on a positive note and saying that there is still hope for the struggling Rockets.
"We believe in this group," Morey stated. "The priority really isn't trade. The priority is getting this group back to its winning ways. Part of us having less flexibility, which I think is more or less true relative to what we had in the past, is because we do believe in the guys we have right now."
According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the team is looking to trade Ty Lawson for Utah Jazz's point guard Trey Burke. This is seen by experts as a straight up trade for the Rockets to improve the team's chemistry.
This comes as a surprise as most believed that Dwight Howard would be the first to go. As shared by ESPN, Howard is not bothered by the rumors.
"I don't pay attention to none of that stuff," Howard said. "I came out here to Arizona and spent some time here in the mountains, and I got away. I just trained, and I got ready for the second half of the season. No matter what's being said, the only thing I can control is what I do on the floor. That's been my only focus."
