Since its announcement in 2013 by Google, Project Ara has been under development for quite some time already, and those who anticipated its release will now be able to get a hand on the device in a few months time.
IB Times reported that the team handling Project Ara will finally be launching the device this year in which they took the initiative to announce ion Twitter. Though the announcement has already been released, the team is still mum regarding the exact specifications of the said smartphone.
The report speculated that this new line of smartphones will be sporting a 13.8-inch screen with 1,920 by 1,080 resolution. With its huge screen size, there leads another speculation that Project Ara will include a SIM card slot.
In Project Ara's Official Website, an introductory remark is displayed noting how a user is left with the decision if he wants to modify his smartphone according to his prerogative.
"The smartphone is one of the most empowering and intimate objects in our lives. Yet most of us have little say in how the device is made, what it does, and how it looks. And 5 billion of us don't have one. What if you could make thoughtful choices about exactly what your phone does, and use it as a creative canvas to tell your own story?
Introducing Project Ara.
Designed exclusively for 6 billion people."
There were reports that Project Ara is designed to be a modular phone/tablet which means that a modification in the internal parts that affect the product's performance can be made to upgrade the device. This could probably mean that if a consumer decided to purchase Project Ara, he can swap specifications from time to time depending on the consumer's preference.
A revolutionary device such as Project Ara will most likely change the gameplay for smartphone and tablet users as this will give consumers that deciding factor on how they'd like their Ara to be like.
