Bellator 149 is going to be an epic battle for two different reasons. The main card will feature two of the greatest MMA fighters as they are virtually legends in the combat sport.
Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock will fight for the third time and the Bellator's official website bills it as "Legendary Superfight." Another notable fight for the night: Kimbo Slice vs. Dada 5000 as heavyweight contenders.
Former bare knuckle fighters Kimbo Slice and Dada 5000 clash in the heavyweight category is something worth noting not only for its entertainment value (their trash talking alone is already entertainment in itself) but also on how their skills translate in the octagon.
The beef between two fighters is more than just hype. According to MMA Fighting, "While many fans may have responded with a 'who?' when Dada 5000 was announced as his opponent Friday, Slice is ready to fill in the details, saying he was a hanger-on with his crew who's been using his brief brush with Kimbo to get his 15 minutes of fame."
On the other hand, the fight between two legends is more than just a swan song. They still want to prove they are more than just the legends of the past. Ken is already 52 while Royce is 49 and even though they have a weight difference of 28lbs, (204 vs. 176), both have been cleared to fight, according to a separate report by MMA Fighting.
Oddsmakers and experts in the sport have already made their predictions. Shamrock and Gracie are nearly 50-50 with Gracie just a bit ahead of Shamrock, according to MMA Betting Odds.
On the other hand, experts and readers at MMA Junkie are near unanimous in their prediction that Kimbo would actually come out on top when he faces Dada 5000. The choice of Kimbo over Dada 5000 is also the same at Odds Shark.
