Although the Los Angeles Lakers season won't likely be salvaged, there's a bit of good news update for fans as Julius Randle will come back to the starting five for the second half.
Mark Medina of LA Daily News tweeted, "Byron said that Julius Randle will start the rest of the season."
The burly 6-9 forward is averaging a double-double this season, posting 11.1 points and 10.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 27 minutes. He lost his starting job to Larry Nance Jr. because the starters are playing better with the University of Wyoming product.
Previously, Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott has been less than praiseworthy for Julius Randle, so this bit of news update is a welcome development.
In an interview with LA Times, Scott said that Randle's immaturity sometimes shines through.
"He's got to grow up. Simple as that. I think the main thing I don't like is when you take him out of games, how he reacts sometimes," he said. "I chalk it up to immaturity and just being inexperienced in this level. It's going to happen again. I'm going to take him out of other games that he's not going to like."
In other news update, Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant is expected to see more minutes on the bench that on the court. The 6-6 future Hall of Famer has been on a season-long farewell tour after earlier announcing his retirement from the NBA.
"Byron said he will likely play Kobe a "tad less" rest of season and play young guys more. But Byron declined to say how many min Kobe gets," tweeted Mark Medina.
This was confirmed by Lakers Nation beat reporter Serena Winters who tweeted, "Byron Scott says he expects the younger players to get a bit more playing time in this last 1/3 of the season."
Watch out for more Los Angeles Lakers news update which will be published here when they come along.
