Michael Weatherly is set to leave "NCIS" as the actor previously announced early this year and several fans are requesting for his character, Special Agent Tony DiNozzo, to reunite with Ziva David played by Cote de Pablo, to who DiNozzo previously had a romantic connection; a new report, however, confirms that the much-requested reunion might just happen before Weatherly exits the show.
"We're really trying to give everybody something that leaves them satisfied," "NCIS" showrunner Gary Glasberg told TV Line, discussing the exit storyline for original cast member Michael Weatherly.
Weatherly has been with "NCIS" since it was launched in September 2003 and with him leaving, Glasberg said that it is a "huge deal" for the production team. "I've been literally thinking about it for six months now... Lots of planning," Glasberg said.
Whether they will grant the request from fans for a Tony DiNozzo-Ziva David reunion, the Executive Producer said that it's hard not to give DiNozzo that, which the International Business Times described in its report as a "happy ending" for the special agent.
Gary Glasberg said, "You can't have Tony leave the show and not get into that in some respect."
"So plan on it being discussed and handled, even if it's in background," the showrunner added. In other words, the "reunion" may not necessarily be Cote de Plabo "actually" coming back to the show.
HNGN, accordingly, discussed in its report how Ziva David could possibly be incorporated in Tony DiNozzo's exit. According to the report, the reunion may be in another form, a flashback or something. The report acknowledges that the chances of Cote de Pablo reprising her role as Ziva David has lesser chances as production nears for the "NCIS" Season 13 finale.
"NCIS" has not been on air since March 1 but it will be back for Episode 1 and the show's 300th episode on March 15.
