It's official, the Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter split has been confirmed by reps from Bonham Carter.
The rep confirmed the news thru Yahoo and said that Burton and Bonham Carter "separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children. We would ask that you respect their privacy and that of their children during this time."
The pair, who has not married, has two children together, Billy Raymond, Eleven, and Nell, Seven. They also never lived in the same house, but is instead connected by a tunnel which allows them to have their own time for themselves. Should they choose to see each other, they just go through the tunnel to do so. Helena Bonham Carter said in a previous interview with U.K.'s Radio Times: "They say Tim and I are a mad couple with subterranean tunnels between our adjoining houses, and that our children live down the road with another couple. We just have two houses knocked together because mine was too small. We see as much of each other as any couple, but our relationship is enhanced by knowing we have our personal space to retreat to. It's not enforced intimacy. It's chosen, which is quite flattering - if you can afford it."
While it won't be hard to the Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter split to actually separate the two, since their houses are pretty much separated in the first place, fans are wondering what the cause of their breakup is. Some say that it is due to the previous issue where Tim Burton was seen kissing a blonde woman in a restaurant. However, Tim was quick to deny the previous rumors, saying that the allegation was absurd, and that the gathering was attended by family and colleagues.
The power couple met in 2001 during the time when Tim Burton directed the remake of the Planet of the Apes. Since then, they have been teaming up for numerous movies including Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland, and Dark Shadows.
