Upcoming "Inside Out" film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures dives into the inner mechanisms of the mind of a young girl. Five emotions are embodied in the film: Joy, Anger, Fear, Sadness and Disgust.
The movie is directed by Pete Docter, who also conceptualized the film's plot.
Amy Poehler is cast as the voice of Joy, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Bill Hader as Fear and Lewis Black as Anger. Kaitlyn Dias voiced the lead protagonist, Riley Anderson. Diane Lane voiced Riley's mom and Kyle MacLachlan is cast as Riley's dad.
The trailer opens with the family having dinner and Riley's mom asking her daughter how her day was at school. However, the mom's emotions picked up on something not being said. She tries to gesture to the dad to participate in the conversation but failed because his emotions were watching sports.
We then see Riley's emotions being introduced by her primary emotion, Joy. Afterwards, we see Sadness touching what used to be a happy memory but now has become gloomy. The next scenes give us a glimpse of the adventures that the emotions go through. Joy and Sadness go through Riley's mind to save the core memories while the other three tries to keep things normal in Riley's head.
Mindy Kaling, who voiced Disgust in "Inside Out," revealed to People magazine that she could have nailed Outrage if she was not cast as Disgust.
"Nope, I think the emotions assembled are a great mix and complement each other really well," she admitted when asked whether she felt that any emotion was left out of the movie.
There is something familiar about the movie since it highly resembles the animated TV series "The Mr. Men Show." The show, based on the "Mr. Men" and "Little Miss" books, also featured emotion-based characters such as Mr. Grumpy, Mr. Silly, Little Miss Chatterbox and Little Miss Curious.
