A teenage boy from Atlanta had a take on second life two years ago after miraculously recovering from a heart transplant. Apparently, he was enjoying his second life which made him involve himself in various law breaking crimes that eventually ended his life.
Anthony Tremayne Stokes, 17, died Tuesday when he lost control of the car he was driving during a police chase, Fox News reports.
The Roswell police report said that the car he was driving matched the description of a vehicle involved in a home invasion. Police officers tried to pull the car over but Stokes refused to stop, resulting in a chase that ended his life. Apparently, they later found out that the black Accord car was carjacked in Dunwoody earlier Tuesday.
Stokes made national headlines when Children's Healthcare of Atlanta refused to put him on the list of heart transplant recipients after being non-compliant. However, due to him gaining public sympathy in August 2013, he successfully received his new heart. He suffered from a condition called dilated cardiomyopathy and was given only six to nine months to live if he would not receive a new heart.
Just over a month later, Stokes told a reporter with WSB-TV in Atlanta that the transplant would help him stay out of trouble. "So I can live a second chance. Get a second chance and do things I want to do," Stokes told the television reporter as reported by Fox News.
However, he was not able to stay out of trouble because after his operation, and was involved in several crimes. He was even put to jail in January but was released after paying a $5,000 bond, reported NBC News.
