Telltale confirms that "Game of Thrones" season 2 is coming, and reveals development details.
Soon after Telltale's "Game of Thrones" finale, questions about season 2 surfaced. While fans continued to scour online to find clues, Telltale revealed definite information and confirmed that the game will progress into season 2.
In an exclusive interview with THR, Telltale's CEO Kevin Bruner talked development details for "Game of Thrones" season 2 and while there isn't much on the specific plot, the second chapter will remain as exciting as the first season. "When we initially announced the series in 2013, we let everyone know this would be a multi-title, multiyear partnership with HBO," shared Telltale's Bruner. "After this week's finale, I'm pleased to officially confirm that there will be a second season of Telltale's 'Game of Thrones' series and that it's currently in development."
Talking about season 2, Telltale CEO also shared that "Game of Thrones" season 2 remains to be closely patterned in the HBO series, but with a bigger cliffhanger than that of the series. "While we cannot divulge any of the specific details, we can say that Telltale's approach to game development is much more like television than most other game developers," Bruner pointed out.
"It's incredibly similar to how TV often spends so much time in preproduction and planning before moving into actually shooting. It's from then on that we take the live development aspect into play, observing the audience and their feedback as we adjust and build upon the experience along the way," added Telltale's CEO.
As IGN pointed out, the production of Telltale's "Game of Thrones" is much like how the series is made by HBO. Although there's basically a manuscript (from George R.R. Martin) to follow, the story develops as many ideas converge to make the plot somehow different. This means that while there are plans for how "Game of Thrones" season 2 will be, there's still a lot of possibilities for the characters in the game.
To date, no release date has been set for Telltale's "Game of Thrones" season 2.
