After "Crimson Peak," Tom Hiddleston is taking on another legendary movie in "Kong: Skull Island."
There have been numerous "King Kong" movies and while these legendary monsters will continue to gather audiences worldwide, some are waiting to see something new. "Kong: Skull Island" will be a different installment, according to the movie's lead actor himself, Tom Hiddleston.
A report by Variety revealed Tom Hiddleston sharing details about the upcoming "Kong: Skull Island" and while most are expecting another kaiju in distress in the city, the star revealed that this is something different. "It's not set in the '30s," confirmed Tom Hiddleston.
"There's no movie director with a map," added the "Kong: Skull Island" lead. "There's no out-of-work actress down on her luck. All of that stuff is respected, we're just trying to do something new with the myth because Kong is an icon of movies. I think he's someone people want to see again."
"Kong: Skull Island" has already been filming early October, under the direction of Jordan Vogt-Roberts who is known for his work in the 2013 film "The Kings of Summer." Joining Tom Hiddleston in the cast is Brie Larson, Jason Mitchell, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson and John Goodman.
Meanwhile, as there isn't certainty with regards to the character Tom Hiddleston will play in "Kong: Skull Island," the actor shared details about his character. Talking to Collider, Tom Hiddleston said, "It's so exciting. I've been digging around in some dark material, to be honest."
"There's something very heroic about my character in 'Skull Island.' He's an adventurer, he's an explorer. I mean, it's a King Kong film. There we go," he added.
"Kong: Skull Island" star also revealed how excited he is to work with the director, revealing that this one is definitely different from the previous films.
"I think he's got just brilliant ideas about exploring that. Incredible sequences, a particular context they put King Kong in that you've never see him in before, so I'm really excited," Tom Hiddleston pointed out.
Tom Hiddleston and the entire cast of "Kong: Skull Island" arrives on March 10, 2017.
