This year, 2016, more and more manufacturers are coming up with new laptops that boast of revolutionary features and edgier designs, giving more reasons for Apple to catch up with the much-anticipated upgrade for its lineup, especially with the MacBook Pro.

In a recent report from The Inquisitr, it highlighted that Apple may have found a robust competition from the latest laptop of Dell, the Dell XPS 13.

Tech Radar, in its review, gave the latest XPS 13 model five stars and called it a "revolution" in laptop design. The review highlighted that they are impressed with how Dell was able to fit a 13.3-inch display on a laptop usually fit for 11.9-inch screens, which according to the report, stole the thunder of the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro Retina.

"Packing a high-resolution screen and serious processing power, there's more to the Dell XPS 13 than being a surprisingly small ultrabook," Tech Radar wrote.

The Inquisitr further noted that to catch up, Apple's MacBook Pro 2016 should "definitely have an Intel Skylake Processor," as it is more powerful and produces better battery life. It added that the "Retina" screens of the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro should also have upgrades, and if rumors are true, the latest models will have, at least, a 4K screen.

Another feature that Apple may add to its new MacBook Pro models is the touchscreen ability. The report noted that while Apple has repeatedly said that it is not interested in giving its laptops a touchscreen feature, it may change its mind given how Windows 10 touchscreen laptops are selling.

Forbes, in its report, also said that Touch Macs may be inevitable given the very slow growth rate of the iPad.

"I think [a touch Mac] is inevitable. There's nothing from the supply chain or from Apple that supports that right now-I just think it's inevitable... I don't know if that's two years out or what," an IDC analyst told Forbes.

Reith further said that Apple is only "playing a waiting game to see what works and what doesn't."
