Fans of Lara Croft and the "Tomb Raider" franchise got some good news as the developers announced that the next generation game will be available for pre-orders.

According to dailystar.com, when, "Rise of the Tomb Raider" was released on PC, one of the world's biggest websites Amazon.com announced that pre-orders for the Sony Playstation 4 version would be accepted. The launch date of Crystal Dynamics' game is set for December 30, 2016.

gamereactor.com speculated that the Microsoft allowed a 12-month exclusivity with the Xbox and PC before the official Playstation release was made.

Initially, the developers of the adventure game announced that it would be exclusive for Microsoft. The game's developing studio Crystal Dynamic released a statement from their executive Darrell Gallagher. He defended the decision to partner exclusively with Xbox on the official Tomb Raider Tumblr.

"Today's announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming," Gallagher said. "Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011."

"We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft."

While no release date has yet to be given, it's still good news for fans of the game who were furious when the exclusivity deal was announced.

"Since its origins in 1996, Tomb Raider has been a multi-platform franchise with fans all over the world playing on diverse systems and devices," a Change.org petition made by fans stated. "The recent decision to release the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider as an Xbox One exclusive alienates the majority of the fan base and will ultimately lead to the demise of the franchise."
