Sadly, fans would only have to imagine a sexier Sookie as Melissa McCarthy would have unveiled her successful weight loss results on the "Gilmore Girls" revival on Netflix.
Apparently, the 45-year-old comedian wasn't asked to reprise her role in the popular series.
She acknowledged as much on Twitter when she wrote, "Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!"
But that's not what creator Amy Sherman Palladino earlier told TVLine when she said that Melissa McCarthy's schedule did not allow for her to appear on the "Gilmore Girls."
"She's really f-ing busy," she said. "But the thing I have said [to her team] is, 'Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I'll write her a scene. Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] - even if for just a cameo - we would be totally game. And if it's a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That's the way we left it."
Could this be a case of misunderstanding?
However, Palladino added that the character of Sookie was not meant to be permanent.
"It simply would've been impossible," she said. "Planning around her crazypants schedule and her movies and her this and her that and Ghostbusters... I would just be sobbing in a corner for six months."
Indeed, McCarthy is more popular than ever, and with her weight loss regimen she sure will have the endurance to accept more movies while she's still hot commodity.
Although, her TV sitcom "Mike & Molly" has been canceled, she has two more movies coming up, "Ghostbusters III" with Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Eliza Dushku, Leslie Jones and Sigourney Weaver; and "The Boss" with Kristen Bell.
In fact, Melissa McCarthy would be debuting her weight loss results on "The Boss," where she was noticeably slimmer playing billionaire Michelle Darnell who lost all her money and has to live with Kristen Bell's character.
