Greg Monroe was the glittering prize of the Milwaukee Bucks' off season.
A star center that actually chose to go to Milwaukee over teams like the New York Knicks, his acquisition was like a milestone for the franchise.
With Monroe, the Bucks were expected to improve upon their playoff appearance last year, but they actually took a step back. Monroe gets his numbers, but the team has suffered defensively.
As Hoops Habit summarized, it was not a good fit, specifically with Jason Kidd's style of coaching.
"Enter Greg Monroe and the Bucks are struggling on both ends of the floor," HH wrote. "Offensively, they lack the shooting and spacing for today's pace-and-space game and defensively, the Bucks really, really miss the steadying presence of Pachulia, who seldom missed a rotation and was never afraid to give someone a whack to the chest, head, neck or some other vital body part (in lieu of being able to be a more traditional rim protector, blocking shots and such)."
The contention is that the Bucks did not need more post offense and they were designed to run with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker. They also lacked stability at the point guard position as Michael Carter-Williams is not a very good playmaker.
Enter Jeff Teague of the Atlanta Hawks who has been rumored to be shopped. The Hawks fans have seen Monroe as a possible trade target as stated in Soaring Down South.
While the trade they suggested centered on Al Horford, the Jeff Teague seems a better option as Coach Jason Kidd could work well with a star point guard.
There are more trade possibilities for both the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks. They have assets that other teams will covet. Expect some form of activity from them before the deadline.
