In 2014, Ed Sheeran became a recognized international artist through his second studio album "x." Of course, his first album "+" is already well known, but his second release cemented his superstardom status.
His track "Thinking Out Loud" easily became a soundtrack for many because of its poignant message for lovers. Even the album as a whole got a positive response as the Guardian describes it, "gently pushing boundaries and maturing noticeably."
His success with "x" made him a really busy person from 2014 to 2015 as he set for a worldwide concert tour that lasted more than a year.
According to his official website for tour dates, he started his concert series March 24, 2014 at the Royal Albert Hall in the UK that ended in Auckland, New Zealand on December 12, 2015.
Before the end of the year, he posted an update on his official social media sites such as Instagram that he is taking a break for a while not only from concerts but even from his phone.
But he did not end the message on a sad note that left fans looking for more answers. In his final update on Instagram, the British pop-rock artist said,"to my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far." With that note, fans are in for a treat this 2016 as the popular singer will be back with a brand new album.
The album will definitely become another success for Ed Sheeran. However, he noted that releasing his album in 2016 would mean going up against another popular artist for a Grammy awards: Adele.
In his interview with Billboard, he admitted that he doesn't know if he's "brave enough to go up against her." Ed Sheeran knows that his upcoming album will be good enough for a Grammy nomination which means it could be an album fans and critics alike would enjoy.
