Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have been married for five years, but it seems that their relationship will be heading to divorce after a cheating scandal.
According to a new report, the reality TV star caught her husband texting another woman and they've been sending intimate messages to each other.
"Joel had received some messages from some random girl who said she was excited to see him when he comes back to town," an insider told In Touch via Radar Online. "It made Nicole stick to her stomach - she was livid."
The mystery girl could be from Australia because that's where the Good Charlotte lead singer went recently to shoot "The Voice Australia" season 5.
According to the website, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are on the verge of getting a divorce because the couple's therapy didn't work out for them.
"She'd already spoken to lawyers. But this time, she had the paperwork drawn up," their source said. "She's on the verge of a breakdown."
The cheating scandal must have pushed the 34-yer-old actress into divorcing the 36-year-old rockstar because she has allegedly tried everything to fix their marriage.
"Nicole's world is falling apart and she's an emotional wreck, but she doesn't have it in her to stay in a marriage where he disrespects her feelings constantly," an insider revealed to In Touch. "She's going through with the divorce."
The trouble in their marriage started last year and there were even rumors that Nicole and Joel already broke up. The pop rocker was first seen without his wedding ring back in December when he was shopping in New York.
Lionel Richie's daughter was also spotted not wearing her wedding ring when she went out for a lunch date with some friends. She admitted to her pals that her relationship with her husband is over.
Joel Madden and Nicole Richie have two children together - Harlow who is seven and Sparrow who is six. Despite going through the divorce process, the estranged husband and wife remained civil for their kids.
"Nicole and Joel are basically living as co-parents right now," an insider told Radar Online. "They had a super rough year and right now they are really trying everything imaginable to salvage what is left of their marriage," the friend added.
