In the recently concluded Screen Actors Guild Awards, the public saw a very confident and radiant Ariel Winter. However, internet went abuzz over the very evident scars on her breast area which was a result of a reduction surgery she had last year.
While many were taken aback by her boldness, the "Modern Family" star made it clear that it was really her intention to flaunt it as she sees no reason why her scars should be hidden. The actress addressed some surprising reactions from fans on Twitter and thanked them for their feedback.
"Guys there is a reason I didn't make an effort to cover up my scars!" Ariel said in a Twitter post. "They are part of me and I'm not ashamed of them at all. :)." She then followed it-up with another tweet saying, "Humbled by all the positive feedback about my scars.Embrace who you are,love every bit about you,because that is what makes you..well..you."
Ariel was very open about her breast reduction surgery back in August 2015. In an old interview from Glamour, the actress shared that the physical pain her cup F breats brought her was unbearable. But, one of the key factors that really pushed her to go under the knife was the unnecessary attention she was getting because of it.
"That's pretty much all I was known for and that upset me," she told the publication."It made me feel really uncomfortable because as women in the industry, we are totally over sexualized and treated like objects.
"Every article that has to do with me on a red carpet always had to do with 'Ariel Winter's Crazy Cleavage!' Or 'Ariel Winter Shows Huge Boobs At An Event!' That's all people would recognize me by, not, Oh, she does great work on Modern Family,'" she added.
