The Brooklyn Nets want to build a new even without their own draft picks so they need to make trades to fill out their holes.

Brandon Jennings of the Detroit Pistons is a starting grade point guard who just recovered from injury. When he returned to the line-up, he found his starting spot comfortably occupied by Reggie Jackson, who is signed to a long-term deal.

The Nets are apparently about to execute a trade for Brandon Jennings, according to Sheridan Hoops.

"Brandon Jennings could very well end up in Brooklyn two weeks from now in a trade that would send Thaddeus Young to the Detroit Pistons, sources tell SheridanHoops.com." Chris Sheridan said. "Brooklyn is one of the teams with the biggest need at point guard after losing Jarrett Jack for the season to a knee injury. The Nets are willing to give Jennings a long-term contract as they begin the process of rebuilding following the reign of error directed by Billy King."

Jennings will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. The report stated that the Nets are ready to offer him a long-term contract. Young is actually one of the few bright spots for Brooklyn this season, but they needed to address the point guard situation.

Sir Charles In Charge also has another reason why it's a good trade for the Nets.

"In addition, the Nets could actually field a team good enough to get out of feeding the Boston Celtics a top-5 pick in this year's NBA Draft. No matter what anyone says, that's something important for the Nets to avoid," SCIC said. "The Nets can't be that team that feeds the Celtics the next great NBA player. They just can't. Acquiring Brandon Jennings won't cure all their issues, but it's worth a gamble. If it comes at the right price, of course."
