Chad Carr, whose Facebook page inspired millions from around the world, was diagnosed with inoperablebrain tumor, got amazing news from his doctors this week. The brain tumor which is virulent in nature was expected to kill him in a year. However, recent tests show that the brain tumor has shrunk by 90%.
The four-year old boy and grandson of renowned Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr was diagnosed with brain tumor last September. Since then, he received 30 cycles of radiation therapies and finished clinical trials with a new inhibitor drug. Jason and Tammi Carr of Ann Arbor, the parents of the boy decided to get the results of his exam after the Thanksgiving holidays and got it last December 1. They got the good news that Chad's brain tumor has shrunk dramatically.
TammiCarr , 39, said, "When we walked in the room, the doctors were smiling ear to ear. We have been asking the world to pray for him. God has been in this from the beginning. We knew it."
At present, the boy has no symptoms and is now at home after being treated at University of Michigan's C.S. Mott Children's Hopsital. His brain tumor was the same one that struck 19-yeard old Lauren Hill, a St. Jospeh's basketball player. It is one of the deadliest tumors which has little prognosis.
His mother said, "But for DIPG, it's amazing. We can see some light and we need people to keep praying." The couple turned to social media for help when their boy was diagnosed with the tumor. They had Twitter hashtags #ChadTough and the Facebook page "Pray for Chad" as many people prayed for his recovery.
Apparently, they were able to raise more than $100,000 for pediatric brain cancer research at C.S. Mott. The family is still asking for prayers as Chad is still not cancer-free.
