Channing Tatum's long time goal of getting Gambit on the big screen is finally becoming a reality. Screen Rant reports that the Cajun superhero movie will start its principal photography this spring.
Of course, it won't make the estimated release date of October 2016, but it still points to the fact that the world of X-Men will expand further with the inclusion of a movie dedicated to a popular superhero.
While everyone is preparing for the upcoming release of the film in 2017, here's something really interesting that would be amazing for a film plot: Comic Book reported of an upcoming cross-over of Gambit with Deadpool, arguably the most popular superhero today.
The comic book will be "a new miniseries revealing the secret, shared history of Wade Wilson and Remy LeBeau... Deadpool and Gambit's time as conmen working together on jobs just long enough to stab each other in the back."
Of course, an adaptation from comic book to a movie let alone crossing these two together would be a tall order. Deadpool's box office success has already got everyone involved thinking about the sequel.
According to Collider, the most popular idea right now is to have Wade Wilson returns with Cable for "Deadpool 2."
Channing Tatum's movie, on the other hand, is still in its really early stages. Details and plot points are under wraps but it's most likely that the film will be another origin story.
Cinema Blend reports of an interview Tatum gave to MTV where he wants to properly introduce and explain who Gambit really is. He even debunks the rumors of a cameo in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse."
But the doors of a cross-over between these two cool characters is still a possibility. After all, Gambit is practically a rock star in the X-Men comic books and Deadpool's run-in with Colossus in the R-Rated film easily connects the superheroes.
