The last episode of "X-Files" ended on a cliffhanger last Tuesday. And speculations regarding its next season are already circulating online. Chris Carter, creator of the said show is confident that the sci-fi hit will be coming back.

According to The Verge, Carter said in a New York Times interview:

"I can tell you, almost without a doubt, we will come back. It's just a matter of when Fox can make it happen."

The creator confirmed that talks are on-going between them and Fox regarding the series' return.

"I just had an informal conversation with [Fox Television Group's] Dana Walden, who said they would like more. The question is when. There's an appetite for it and I think everyone is excited about doing more. It's just how to get it done."

Furthermore, the creator explained that he is ready for the show's future episodes but there are still other things to consider such as logistical matters before an announcement can be made, Rolling Stone reported.

Availability of stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson and the rest of the cast are also being considered. When their schedules compliment, that will be a go signal for Fox to greenlit the announcement, The Verge added.

In Rolling Stone's report, Carter confirmed: "It's really a matter of when the actors would be able to do it, when they're available at the same time," he said. "We'd also need a schedule that would give us enough lead time to make it interesting. Nothing's been written yet. I've written down a lot of ideas but there's nothing even close to a script."

The last season ended with a high-rating episode, tying up with the "Bachelor." Regarding the cliffhanging characteristic of the season's ending, Carter revealed that it is their way to maintain the interest of the show's viewers.

"We've always ended with a cliffhanger," the creator said. "This isn't a movie; it's a TV series. Any resolution would have to lead to more stories to tell. If [fans] feel cheated, they're not familiar with how we've done the show. I think they'd feel more cheated if we resolved it and didn't come back at all."

Though confidence in its comeback have been boldly declared by authorities, specific date for its return is unknown yet.
