Fans have all been rooting for Leonardo di Caprio to take home the most-prized Best Actor award from this year's Academy Awards.

Year after year whenever di Caprio has multiple Academy nominations including the best actor, fans can't help but think that he is finally taking the most coveted award. But it seems that fate still has a plan for the multi-awarded actor as the award really became elusive for him.

According to The Oscars, other nominees for Best Actor in a leading role includes Bryan Cranston for "Trumbo," Matt Damon for "The Martian," Michael Fassbender for "Steve Jobs" and Eddie Redmayne for "The Danish Girl."

Just recently, the 41-year old actor brought home awards multiple awarding bodies such as AACTA for Best International Actor in "The Revenant," Best Actor for the same movie by Boston Society of Film Critics and Outstanding Perfomance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for the same movie as well by the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Will di Caprio finally be able to take the Best Actor in a Leading Role award?

For the list of winners, Slash Film revealed a partial list of those who took home the awards:

Mark Rylance of "Bridge of Spies" for Best Supporting Actor, "Inside Out" for Best Animated Feature, "Bear Story" for Best Animated Short, "Ex Machina" for Best Visual Effects, Emmanuel Lubezki of "The Revenant" for Best Cinematography, Alicia Vikander of "The Danish Girl" for Best Supporting Actress, Charles Randolph and Adam McKay of "The Big Short" for Best Adapted Screenplay, Josh Singer and Tom McCarthy of "Spotlight" for Best Original Screenplay

On the other hand "Mad Max: Fury Road" bagged numerous awards such as Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, Best Film Editing, Best Make Up and Hairstyling, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design for Jenny Beavan.

The event was hosted by Chris Rock at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles California.
