One of the highlights of the recently concluded Oscar Awards, especially for the "Suicide Squad" fans, was when Jared Leto presented the best production design award and dropped a comment that may have hinted a major detail for his Joker character.
In his presentation, Jared Leto said, "Without the genius contributions of makeup artists and hair stylists, we wouldn't lose ourselves in classic films like 'The Godfather,' 'The Elephant Man,' 'Raging Bull,' 'Magic Mike 2.'"
"Think about it," he added. "But let's be honest, they deserve an award just for putting up with us actors, not to mention the prosthetics: the wigs, the occasional merkin."
And before anyone gets baffled with what a "merkin" is, Jared Leto said further, "If you happen to be laughing, please explain it to the person next to you, and if you aren't, Google it."
And later on, after the awards show, Jared Leto posted on Twitter a message with an image of an actual merkin. He posted, "Yes I said MERKIN."
In its report, The Hollywood Reporter said that a merkin is a "pubic wig that actors wear in nude scenes, but it is also considered fashionable and sported at events such as Burning Man."
This leads to fans speculating that Jared Leto emphasizing the merkin may suggest that his "Suicide Squad" character, the iconic Joker, may go full frontal nude in the film.
Inverse confirms this in its report saying that Leto left a major clue on his presentation speech. Inverse wrote, "The internet is treating it as a funny reference, but they're missing the clue."
"Leto just essentially dropped the bomb that, in addition to his 'damaged' tattoos and Lil Wayne style grille, the Joker will be rocking a merkin in 'Suicide Squad.' How else would that explain his intimate knowledge of it? At the very least, perhaps Deadshot will," the report added.
