Finally, John Oliver has tackled Donald Trump and made it worth for those who wanted him to go after the candidate. He used nearly the entire episode on the candidate alone as he noted, "Donald Trump is America's back mole.
It may have seemed harmless a year ago, but now that it's gotten frighteningly bigger, it is no longer wise to ignore it." The full video, by the way, is already posted on their official YouTube page with more than 13 million views as of this writing.
Oliver went on tackle what made Donald Trump very popular and appealing to voters. Among them is his supposed ability to "tell it like it is" based on an interview with a supporter. But Oliver disputed some of his claims including his pronouncement that he was invited to be a guest for the show as well as Trump's attacks on Jon Stewart.
The truth for the republican candidate according to Oliver, "I think he just doesn't care about what the truth is. Donald Trump uses the truth like this lemur use the supreme court vacancy." He then goes to show a lemur enjoying a piece of banana.
There's also the notion of his tough talk and Oliver immediately ran a story of Spy magazine calling out Trump's fingers. The business magnate then sent pictures of his fingers encircled with a golden sharpie.
Oliver even called on Trump's claims of 10 Billion net worth which is largely based on intangible assets and his claims as a builder wherein he simply licenses his name as a way for builders to attract investors and property buyers.
Before the show ended, Oliver noted that Trump's ancestors originally wanted the last name "Drumpf" instead of the current last name. The host then launched a twitter campaign #Makedonalddrumpfagain, created a website donaldjdrumpf.com featuring a browser extension that changes every Trump word to Drumpf and finally unveiling a large sign of the proposed ancestral last name.
