"Orange Is The New Black" season 4 decides to speak out on the show itself.
The newest teaser of the upcoming award winning series has spoken out about diversity of Hollywood. The Litchfield inmmates are reportedly seen poking fun and making remarks on how "white" the award shows are.
“Even when white folks try to be excited, they still boring!” joked Taystee, as reported by Independent. Cindy even added fuel and saif “Yeah, I was asleep”.
The cast's call on diversity in Hollywood started way before the teaser was released. Season 4 was welcomed graciously as the "Orange Is The New Black" cast took home the award for an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and actress Uzo Aduba took home the award for the Outstanding Perfromrmance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
“It’s a start but the problem starts before the Academy Awards,” said cast member Selenis Leyva on Entertainment Weekly. “The problem starts in the writing rooms, in the studios; the producers and directors and casting people need to open up their eyes that this is a different world we’re living in and diversity is not just black and white."
"Diversity is universal and it’s a lot more than what we are focusing on. It’s religions, it’s sexuality. So it doesn’t start at the Academy Awards. That’s not the solution. The solution starts before that.”
In other news, the show has reportedly been signed on by Netflix for three more seasons.
"Orange Is The New Black" will be coming back on June 17, 2016 with season 4 with actresses Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Michael J. Harney, Michelle Hurts, Kate Mulgrew, Jason Biggs, Uzo Aduba, Danielle Brooks, Natasha Lyonne, Selenis Leyva, Adrienne Moore, Dascha Polanco, Nick Sandow, Yael Stone, Samira Wiley, Jackie Cruz, Lea DeLaria and Taryn Manning.
