"Rocket League" has a very desirable prize for their newest series in their latest update.
Developer Psyonix had previously teased that they had plans to support the fusion soccer game in Esports and it was just recently announced that the first "Rocket League" Championship series would be taking place. Not only will this be the official competitive league in the game, it will also be reportedly streamed on Twitch for all interested spectators.
"From the moment we hit the pitch last July, we knew that 'Rocket League' was a legitimate esport," said Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham said in a statement on Gamespot.
"Twitch and its streamers have been an instrumental part of our success since we launched last July, and that made them a perfect match for us. We couldn't be more thrilled to be working with a team that we respect as highly as we do Twitch, and we can't wait to show the world what we can do in esports together!"
The "Rocket League" update reported that it would last for about three months with matches featuring a standard set up of 3v3. The series begins with the open qualifiers and teams are then stacked up against one another until only two remain. Those who manage to win or get far enough will have their fair share of the $75,000 prize money.
A short video teaser was uploaded on their Youtube channel and showed close up snippets of the championship trophy before posting the open registration date.
Psyonix updated that all "Rocket League" matches will be played on both Playstation and PC. Unfortunately other platforms won't be supported until later in the future.
Those who are interested in joining the competition can register on the "Rocket League" Esports website.
The game is a futuristic action-sports game where players must control various rigged vehichles in a game of football.
