The science fiction movie ''The Sinister Six'' from the Marvel Cinematic Universe might not be released in Nov. 2016 as scheduled earlier, however, the project is not yet dead.
Cinemablend reported last year about the progress of this movie. ''With that good news set, one begins to wonder where that leaves Sony Pictures' plans for the wise-cracking wall-crawler's spinoff movie projects, notably with the villain group-focusing film, The Sinister Six. Well, according to one report, it will leave things on ice, which we can assume is a lot better than dead.''
IMDb mentioned that Steve Ditko will write the characters of the movie and Drew Goddard will create the screenplay. Stan Lee's involvement is important in all MCU movies. He too will be a part of the writing team along with Johnny Romita.
Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach will produce the movie and there is no fixed release date for this movie yet. As per Wikia ''It was originally a spin-off film part of The Amazing Spider-Man series.'' Way back in Dec. 2013 Sony announced about the spin offs and ''The Sinister Six'' and ''Venom'' would have been those two chosen movies. Drew Goddard is expected to direct the movie.
The future of this movie is not very clear. Initially ''The Amazing Spider-Man 3 & 4'' were cancelled and later it was clarified that Sony has other plans for the Spiderman Franchise. In Feb. 2015 when the cancellation was announced, the fans were upset, however, the Spider-Man franchise now will be merged with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Superherotype clarified that ''The Sinister six'' was initially cancelled, however, it was revived later. "When you're doing just a straightforward superhero movie, you don't need a lot of villains. The focus is on one guy. I think with Sinister, it's different'' clarified Goddard. ''To me it's less about too many villains and more about too many antagonists and there's a distinction. You never say, like, The Dirty Dozen has too many characters. They're all villains, or you could argue that.''
But they're protagonists. The trick with Sinister, is that I was making everyone the protagonist and less about six-on-one and more about coming at it a little differently. That was the idea... You can still have protagonists be evil. That's the secret. Look at something like, say, Reservoir Dogs. They're protagonists but Michael Madsen is a complete psychopath! It's OK, you can do both."
