Few details have been known about the upcoming PlayStation VR but in a leaked PS4 firmware update, new details are revealed, including a written feature that the new firmware is prohibited for use by children under age 12.
The safety notice (via Techno Buffalo), which was first shared in Reddit, was part of a recent update for the PS4's firmware. According to Techno Buffalo, there is an ongoing debate whether VR devices are safe for use of children and even the Samsung's Gear VR comes with a warning that the device is not suited for children under the age of 13. The warning foes further to adults who were told to limit their use of the device and take regular breaks.
Accordingly, the leaked "Health and Safety - VR Headset Safety Notice" reads: "Before using, read the health and safety warnings in the VR headset instruction manual. Carefully follow all instructions for setup and use."
"The VR headset is not for use by children under age 12," the notice said further.
"Review surroundings and clear obstacles before use. Take steps to prevent pets, children, or other obstacles entering the area during use."
"Some people may experience motion sickness, nausea, disorientation, blurred vision or other discomfort while viewing virtual reality content. If you experience any of these symptoms, stop using immediately and remove the VR headset," it added.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail also recently reported that Sony has announced an invite-only media event on March 15 in San Francisco, where the PlayStation VR, previously codenamed Project Morpheus, will be officially launched. The event, according to Daily Mail, will also be in line with Sony's promise that the VR headset would go on sale in the first half of 2016. There will also be a PlayStation VR on display for the attendees to have a hands-on demo.
