Microsoft Hololens gives augmented reality an extra dose of reality.
The Microsoft Studios team just uploaded a video updating consumers on the development of the Galaxy Explorer app specifically made for the HoloLens. While it mostly talks about the way the app works, Microsoft gives consumers a sneak peek into the future of gaming and probably more.
The company updated on the progress of the Galaxy Explorer app in the video by talking about the nitty gritty details of the work they have to put in before it gets released three weeks later.
Apart from looking into the galaxy and getting an immersive experience of it, the Microsoft Hololens is able to have users add into the augmented reality. "We also want people to be able to add to it," said Jedd Chevrier, Concept Art Lead for the project.
He added, "So, for example, if someone discovered a new planet right? You could theoretically add that and then add like an information card. We want to provide the tools for that so the experience is consistent when you re-release your version."
Developers reportedly get the most perks out of this since they can just connect to their device and immediately start developing.
To get a dose of Microsoft Hololens augmented reality consumers will have to be willing to spend around $3000 per headset. However, this is only the speculated price as the company has not yet released any official pricing. Even the release date for the VR tech has not yet been announced but is expected to get to developers in mid-2016, as reported by Alphr.
The Hololens kit will reportedly come with the headset, a "clicker" controller, a charger, a carrying case, a microfibre cloth and a micro-USB 2 cable.
It won't be made available to the public as the one being released is a Developmed Edition headset and would require the buyer to be a US or Canadian developer.
