There was an addition to the Royal family of Sweden. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden gave birth to a son on Mar. 2, 2016. Name of the new prince too was revealed.
As reported by CNN, the baby boy was born at 8:28 p.m. (2:28 p.m. ET). The baby weighed 3,655 grams (8.1 pounds) and was 52 centimetres (20.5 inches) long was born at the Karolinska hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. Prince Daniel, married Crown Princess Victoria in 2010 and this is their second child. The first child Princess Estelle was born four years back. She will be second in line for the crown after her mother.
Justjared revealed the name of the new-born prince. ''The Swedish Royal Court later announced that the couple named their new addition Oscar Carl Olof, who will be known as Oscar.'' The newly born prince also got his new title ''Duke of Skåne.''
"They are doing great and have been really well-cared for. I have not had time to feel just yet how it feels to be a father of two. But it feels good so far!" stated Prince Daniel to the reporters who were waiting outside the hospital to get a glimpse of their new prince.
Hello magazine reported ''Prince Daniel was by his wife's side throughout the birth, and he later proudly addressed the media to confirm that the little prince was born weighing eight pounds and measuring 22 inches long.''
Victoria's sister Princess Madeleine was one of the first people to meet the newly born prince. "Congratulations to my sister Victoria and Daniel with the birth of their son! He was born today at 8.28pm here in Stockholm!" she wrote on Facebook from the Karolinska Hospital.
It was also reported that Victoria had cancelled her Name Day celebrations which was supposed to take place on Mar.12, 2016 due to the delivery date advancing. Every year the royal family had celebrated this special occasion together. It was also reported that Princess Estelle was very happy to hear the news of the new arrival in the family.
Princess Madeleine (sister of Victoria) is married to banker Chris O'Neill and they have two children Leonore and Nicolas. Princess Estelle adores her cousins a lot and the fourth child in the family is truly welcome.
"What [Estelle] really wants is a hamster!" last year crown princess Victoria had revealed. "Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are happy to announce that The Crown Princess is expecting their second child. The birth is expected to take place in March of 2016." This was the official statement which was released last year when the royal couple had declared about the pregnancy of Princess Victoria.
