It looks like fans will have to wait longer before a new album from Ellie Goulding will be released as the British singer recently announced that she will be taking a break from music.
At first, fans were shocked when it was initially reported that Ellie Goulding is "quitting music." The news broke out after the pop singer announced that she and McFly bassist Dougie Poynter have split up. As The Sun had put it, Ellie Goulding "will be quitting the music industry next year to get over the headache."
"People think I'm invincible but these past few weeks have been tough," Ellie Goulding told The Sun.
"When you're in the public eye, it seems like you're able to deal with stuff better than anyone else, which is not remotely true," she added. "I'm not in a relationship anymore and that's been hard. Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head."
The singer added that it may take long before she releases a new album, "I'm not writing new stuff. I'm not sure when I'll release a new album."
A recent report from Express, however, had Ellie Goulding clarifying that by saying that she is "quitting music," she did not mean that she will stop making music. She went further to reassure fans that she will definitely be back.
In her Twitter post, Ellie Gouding said: "I am not quitting music, I've come too far for that."
"Just having a break. It's been seven years since I had time off... Love you all," she added.
According to Express, fans were also supportive and understanding of Ellie Goulding's decision. One fan said, "You need more than a break. You need a medal and some gin."
Ellie Goulding is currently in the cover of Seventeen magazine April 2016 issue, where the singer addressed in the cover story young girls who listen to her music and told them that she wants to know that everything is going to be okay.
