"The Vampire Diaries" showrunner Julie Plec shared her thoughts on the possibility of another season for the popular CW series.
In her "Julie's Diary" column with EW, the "TVD" co-creator took to Twitter and answered some questions about the series and its spin-off, "The Originals." Plec chose 10 questions which she felt were legitimate, intelligent and non-R-rated.
One Twitter user, @ManuelI84, asked about the future of Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert, a.k.a. Delena.
"All I can say is that Damon is committed to being at Elena's side when she wakes up in however many years it takes, and he's going to do everything he can to make sure he still believes he's worthy of her," Plec wrote.
"He will hit a lot of bumps in the road coming up in the next few episodes and will have to make some drastic decisions. Don't forget, when we started this season, he was lying desiccated in a coffin next to hers."
There are a lot of fans who are still hoping for Nina Dobrev to return to "The Vampire Diaries." It was previously reported that executive producer Caroline Dries would want the actress back if "TVD" season 7 becomes the last season for the series.
"I would say that, if The CW called today and was like, 'By the way, Season 7 is the last season,' then I think we would scramble to make sure that she was in the finale," Dries told Collider.
"But as of right now, we're acting like the show will go on, so no."
Julie Plec was also asked about the possibility of another season after "The Vampire Diaries" season 7.
"Well I sure hope so!" she replied. "I know we have a very large crew and cast of people who really want to be doing what we love on this show next year, so keep your fingers crossed.
