Hello Games has announced the "No Man's Sky" release date.
GameSpot reported that the release date for the game will be on Jun. 21 for North America. It will be available for UK on the 24th.
Hello Games studio head, Sean Murray, made this announcement during a recent press event.
In "No Man's Sky" PC and PS4, players take on the role of an astronaut. Each player will start the journey on an undiscovered planet where they are the only person in it. Afterwards, players can board their ship, take off, and begin to tour the galaxy.
"We are attempting to do things that have never been done before," Murray said when the project was announced publicly.
"No game has made it possible to fly down to a planet, and for it to be planet-sized, and feature life, ecology, lakes, caves, waterfalls, and canyons, then seamlessly fly up through the stratosphere and take to space again."
Meanwhile, pre-orders for "No Man's Sky" PC and PS4 are now live. Digital copies of the game can now be pre-ordered for PS4 owners via PlayStation Network. It can also be bought in retail stores as part of a bumper Limited Edition or Standard Edition.
PC pre-orders for "No Man's Sky" can now be pre-purchased on Steam, GOG.com and Humble stores.
The "No Man's Sky" PC Limited Edition includes a tin toy-style cast metal ship replica as well as some exclusive goodies along with the digital copy of the game.
"June is just over the horizon, and we've got some work to go before the game is ready," the game's website stated. "We'll be a little quiet again until then (but not completely silent - there's still some more to showcase soon!) as we get closer to release."
Hello Games boss Sean Murray has hinted at the possibility of the "No Man's Sky" gameplay to be compatible with VR consoles such as Sony's Morpheus and the Oculus Rift.
