Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will be returning to the small screens when “Outlander” season 2 returns in April. However, contrary to what many of the show’s fans might have hoped, the upcoming episodes will not only feature raunchy scenes between the two main actors.

Although there will still be steamy scenes, since it would not be the same “Outlander” show that its audience had loved without them, Heughan insists that what the show runners have in store for them will compel them to “stay strong,” as reported by The International Business Times. Rumor has it that the marriage between Jamie Fraser, played by Heughan, and Claire Randall, played by Balfe, are about to take a fall.

“They’re constantly fighting their way to get back to where they were the wedding night,” Heughan shared to TV Guide. “It’s a great tragedy of the show that this relationship has been tainted for good. I don’t think we can ever get back there.”

Jamie and Claire were happy in their marriage when the first half of the show’s first season ended. Sadly, a sudden turn of events were caused by Claire’s decision to refuse to follow her husband’s instructions and tried to get to Craigh Na Dun anyway, as detailed in another The International Business Times article.

Captain Black Jack Randall, played by Tobias Menzies, capturing her was the ultimate cliff hanger that left “Outlander” fans chewing their nails during the hiatus. Jamie attempted to save his wife by jumping after her through a window. At this point, fans can only speculate on what the possible effects of Claire’s actions would be.

It is highly likely that their marital problem will be centered on Claire’s decision to disobey what Jamie had told her. Plus, they will also have to be on-the-run from Black Jack once again.

On the bright side, Heughan, with the help of his loyal fans, were able to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Research Organization. His “My Peak Challenge” campaign was a success and Stephanie Cade, the fundraising press officer, only had praises to say about the actor, as per Fashion & Style.
