While many men desire to have a bigger male organ, there's one teen who wants it reduced-and all for a good reason.

A teen from Florida became the first person to undergo a penis reduction surgery after he discovered that his large organ is preventing him from having good sex and competing in sports.

According to the doctor who treated him, the patient, a 17-year-old, has a penis that is around 7 inches and with a circumference of more than 8 inches when flaccid. The average length is only 5 inches while the circumference is 3 inches. Because of its largeness, the doctor described it as looking like an American football.

The teen is also diagnosed with sickle cell disease, and the abnormal-looking cells can sometimes find their way into the blood vessels of the penis, blocking them. This then causes his organ to swell, a medical condition known as priapism. The penis appears firmer and more erect, which only worsens the deformity.

The teenage boy has also been suffering from lack of self-confidence as he's ashamed at how big his penis is, and he cannot wear all types of pants.

All these have forced him to approach an urologist working in University of Florida, Rafael Carrion, to perform the very unique procedure.

The doctor admitted that his request caught him off guard, and for a bit, he was speechless. It was also a huge challenge for him since there's not enough medical literature that can show him how to do it. Most refer to penile enlargement.

To proceed with the surgery, the doctor uses a similar technique for those who develop Peyronie's disease. He made an incision in the same area with a circumcision scar, revealed the penis by opening the skin, and then cut some tissue on both sides. This procedure allowed the doctor to retain the same sensation into the organ and bypass the urethra.

Eventually the patient stayed for about 2 days in the hospital and went home happy.

The case can be read in Journal of Sexual Medicine.
