"Pokémon the Movie XY: The Archdjinni of the Rings: Hoopa" is scheduled to be released on Jul. 18, 2015.
Directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, the upcoming Japanese anime film is the 18th "Pokémon" movie and the second film for the "XY Series." The short trailer for the movie, which was uploaded last Mar. 5, showcased Hoopa's power for the first time.
Three new characters were introduced in the trailer. Mary, Barza and a mysterious character called The Traveler (or Nomad) will reportedly make their appearance in "Pokémon the Movie XY." Serebii reported that the three characters each lived together with Hoopa in Arkhe Valley. However, 100 years ago, The Traveler imprisoned Hoopla in a Prison Bottle but the Ring Genie was released by Barza. Mary and Barza will also be featured in the upcoming bonus DVD. Fans can avail of the DVD when they pre-order tickets to "Pokémon the Movie XY."
"This is a story set when Hoopa's companions Barza and Mary were still children. The three of them lived happily together with the villagers in 'Arkhe Valley,' a place far from Désser City where Hoopa later meets Ash and the others. Everyone there loved Hoopa's rings, which could make anything and everything appear!" the synopsis read.
"One day, the three of them were helping an old woman make donuts. Hoopa's eyes started glittering at the sight of these round treats it had never seen before! But when Hoopa's rings get used to make donuts, things quickly get silly!"
In the trailer, we witness Hoopa interacting with Ash, Pikachu and the team. It would seem that a crew of legendary Pokémons are attacking the city in the movie and Hoopa was actually able to summon some legendary Pokemons to help them. Furthermore, a mysterious figure seems to be able to activate Hoopa's transformation to its Unbound form which changed its sunny disposition.
