This year's March seems to be a recall month.

On Tuesday, March 17, two huge food brands, Kraft Foods and Trader Joe's, have issued a recall on their selected products available in the market.

In a statement released by the company, Kraft Foods is currently pulling out more than 240,000 Macaroni and Cheese dinner packets (Original Flavor), which are available in 7.25 ounces. They may be packed in threes, fours, and fives. Their best-by dates are from September 18 and October 11. Each of the boxes also carries a C2 code found underneath the best-by date. The company has already received 8 complaints, none of which resulted to hospital admission or injuries.

In the same press release, the company mentioned that some of the boxes may have contained small pieces of metal that had mixed with the food when one of the tools got wedged in equipment in the production facility. The tool and equipment then generated friction with some small pieces ending up in the packaging.

The affected products have been shipped around the United States, South America, and the Caribbean. Canada is not included.

On the other hand, Trader Joe's are recalling products with raw walnuts after a routine inspection by a contractor of the Food and Drug Administration confirmed the presence of salmonella in the samples. Affected in the recall are premium walnut halves, walnut baking pieces, halves and pieces, and walnut pieces that are sold in 16 ounces with best-by dates on December 2015.

So far, there's no known complaint. These products may remain off the shelf until the investigation is over. Lot numbers are published in their website.

Earlier this month, Blue Bell Creameries had to recall many of its product lines after they were linked to listeria cases in Texas. The source may have been one ice cream machine in its plant in Brenham.
