Dylan O'Brien, Logan Lerman and now Freddie Highmore? Who's next?
"Spider-Man" 2017 reboot casting updates have heard rumors about Dylan O'Brien and Logan Lerman as frontrunners, but now "The Spiderwick Chronicles" star Freddie Highmore is said to be a candidate for the lead role.
In a recent interview with IGN, the kid from Johnny Depp's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" shared his thoughts about taking on the Spidey suit. "Obviously I would love to be considered. That would be fantastic. I guess we'll just see how things go."
He continued, "You always feel like you can identify with him. He's that kind of guy at school who wasn't perhaps in the really cool group, but who was extremely intelligent and managed to find confidence in being Spider-Man --- in this other side to his life."
Early on, Dylan O'Brien was the rumored frontrunner of the 2017 "Spider-Man" reboot. However, he has already commented on the reports, saying that he hasn't heard of the role at least professionally.
Talking to BuzzFeed, O'Brien said, "It's nothing but flattering. It's never something I would want to get myself excited about, since I know I haven't heard about it from a professional standpoint," O'Brien shared. "I've always wanted to play Peter Parker, obviously. I feel like any actor my age, that's, like, a big thing. And my name being tossed with Logan Lerman's is the coolest thing ever, too. I just think that kid is f*cking fantastic."
He goes on to further clarify things and said, "It makes me feel bad because I'm, like, disappointing a big chunk of fans across the nation. You can tell them that it's not true."
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was led by actor Andrew Garfield and although the reception of his version of Spider-Man was highly positive, reports reveal this reboot will need to bring in a younger version of Peter Parker.
