Apart from "The Lego Movie 2," "Ninjago" and "Lego Batman Movie," cast, plot and release date updates revealed that Warner Bros. has recently added a new Lego flick to its roster.

"The Billion Brick Race," another "The Lego Movie" spin-off, is reportedly underway.  Actor Jason Segel will be co-writing and co-directing the said flick with "Iron Man 3," "Mission: Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation" and "Ghostbusters" writer Drew Pearce.

"Short List clarified that it is still not sure if "The Billion Brick Race" will be animated or a live-action movie," Christian Times reported.

"The film will mark the first time either Segel or Pearce will direct a film. Segel's previous writing credits include 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' and 'Sex Tape,' the Guardian reported."

Meanwhile, new "The Lego Movie 2" cast, plot and release date updates confirm that the sequel will focus on Emmett.

According to Den of Geek, Chris Miller and Phil Lord "confirmed that the sequel will be set a few years after the ending of the original The LEGO Movie (as had been revealed last month), and that the focus is going to be on Emmett and his sister. Furthermore, it's going to take place in a 'weird, dystopian version of Bricksburg.'"

Lord and Miller who helmed the first "Lego Movie" will be back as writers for the sequel. Animation co-director Chris McKay will take the lead for the second movie.

Apart from Emmett's return, Lord and Miller also shared recently that the sequel will introduce more female characters. Could this signal a female lead role?

"It's important to us that the movie plays broadly and that we inspire young women as much as we inspire young men," Lord told the BBC.

"I don't want to give spoilers but there will be more female characters and more female stuff."

"You can feel that the whole movie culture is now starting to wake up to the fact that half the audience are women. Frozen is reflective of that - and I think we are all going to find a great flourishing of women film makers and subject matter in the future," he added.

While Miller shared, "There's been a real shortage of [female protagonists] in recent years and I think that the near future will be very different."

Hero Complex reported that the "Lego Batman Movie" will take the original 2017 launch of "The Lego Movie 2." That means, the sequel will be given a 2018 premiere.
