CDC Reaches Out To Airline Co-Passengers Of Nurse With Ebola

Ebola Spread In Dallas
(Photo : nbcbayarea.com) Amber Vinson was a passenger of two flights before she was quarantined to be confirmed of Ebola Infection.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed that they are trying their best to reach out and expand passenger notification of people who were in the flight from Dallas to Cleveland last October 10 and the flight from Cleveland to Dallas on October 13.

The nurse named Amber Vinson who with Nina Pham, took care of the first person in the United States to be confirmed of Ebola last September. Thomas Eric Duncan died on October 2 succumbing to the virus. Nina Pham was confirmed to have the virus and is currently treated at Maryland for a controversial treatment. Meanwhile, Amber Winson is in Texas being treated as well.

CDC is reaching out to all passengers of both flights to contact the nearest health authority to undergo the needed quarantine and treatment. Also, So they can be able to track all their encounters after the flight. She went to Cleveland via Frontier flight 1142 and to Dallas via Frontier Airlines flight 1143.

If they are tracked, public health officials will conduct interviews on the passengers an will arrange or schedule follow ups. Potential risk passengers will be monitored accordingly.

The Ebola scare has taken people into panic mode for the past month since the confirmation of the first patient with Ebola died. Ebola can be spread through direct contact like broken skin or mucous membranes in the eyes, nose, or mouth from the blood or body fluids of an Ebola-infected person.

The World Health Organization and CDC are working hand in hand in the purpose of eliminating spread of the virus as well as keeping the country Ebola-free. The importance of washing the hands and practicing good hygiene is encouraged. The Ebola virus has taken more than 4,000 lives mostly from West Africa. An estimated 8,000 cases has been confirmed.
