Not all season series end with more chapters to look forward to, much like ABC's "Secrets and Lies" series.
Days after the final episode of "Secrets and Lies" was aired, no renewal news yet has reached fans for the go signal on Season 2. Speculations now surface that a cancellation is on the horizon, especially after star Ryan Phillippe shared details about Ben Crawford and confirms that it is the end for his character.
The final episode of "Secrets and Lies" aired last May 4 and was the 10th episode of the first season. Until now, there has been no news of either cancellation of the season or renewal for season 2. The ratings of the series averaged to 5 million viewers per episode, which isn't that impressive given the status of viewership for some current TV shows.
This leads fans to wonder whether they will see a continuation to "Secrets and Lies" after Ryan Phillippe's character Ben Crawford goes behind bars. Ben Crawford is last seen by fans during the finale inside a jail cell via the online video, reported IBTimes.
Variety summed up "Secrets and Lies" finale and reported that "the finale yielded the same killer as the Australian series upon which it was based, with the main character's 12-year-old daughter (Belle Shouse) having slain what turned out to be her half-brother."
The report also revealed a bit of insight into the wavering ratings of the ABC series and shared that "'Secrets and Lies' exhibited moments of promise, especially in the early going as it captured how the media jackals descended on Ben and his family. After that, the series became increasingly overheated (a fairly common criticism among ABC dramas)."
Meanwhile, series star Ryan Phillippe replied to question on Twitter about the return of "Secrets and Lies" for season 2, as well as his comeback should the series be renewed. He pointed to ABC for the renewal question and confirmed that the finale was the end of his character Ben Crawford. So, will he be returning for season 2 when it has been renewed? Apparently, definitely not.
