Science has confirmed that the skin is the largest organ in the human body. Whatever we put and slather on it can affect our health in tremendous ways, because whatever the skin absorbs is broken down and processed by the other systems in the body. This mirrors how important it is to take care of the skin and be mindful of the products we use.

Dermatologists and skin experts also advise on doing the following to make sure that the skin stays clean and beautiful.

Clean Makeup Brushes Regularly

Makeup brushes are handy tools that every makeup wearer relies on. However, a survey has found that most people who use makeup do not clean their makeup brushes regularly. Ideally, makeup brushes should be cleaned at least once a week. Why? Because these seemingly innocent tools are host to a myriad of bacteria and germs. Add to that the piling up of products (concealer on top of foundation on top of moisturizer), mixed with facial oil and sweat. This can cause or trigger acne, something that no woman wants. Clean brushes with a mild shampoo then air dry.

Choose Your Skin Products with Extra Caution

Women have their makeup and men have their shaving creams. All products applied on the skin can undeniably affect it. Ongoing studies have shed light to the truth behind most commercial skin products- they mostly contain toxic ingredients. Whether it be parabens or silicon, everything from anti-perspirant to lotion has been found to contain these toxins. Eventually accumulating these toxins can make you ten times more susceptible to health problems such as thyroid conditions and even cancer. Be sure to be knowledgeable about what's toxic and what's not, read the label, and start choosing wisely. There are many natural and/or organic alternatives to these conventional skin products.
