"Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon" 3DS will be coming this winter to North America.
The upcoming roguelike video game in the "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon" series will be released in Japan in the third quarter of 2015 and early 2016 in Europe.
It was first announced in a press release by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo. The game is being developed by the company and Spike Chunsoft, who also created "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity" and "Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains."
"Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity" was the latest title in the series to be released. It arrived on 3DS in 2013. According to Nintendo, the series has already shipped 13 million copies.
"With dungeon layouts that change every time you enter them, the fun never ends," the game's website stated. "Battle alongside Legendary and Mythical Pokémon to save the world from a crisis in a tale of unprecedented scale."
Cinema Blend reported that the timing of the announcement for "Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon" 3DS release is consistent with its tradition. Typically, Pokémon titles are announced in May. The website commented that the game will definitely be something to look forward to.
"With 'Pokémon X/Y' being released in 2013 and 'Pokémon OR/AS' hitting store shelves in 2014, many were wondering if the monster-catching series was being turned into an annualized series like, say, 'Assassin's Creed' or 'Call of Duty,'" the website wrote.
"Since the 'Mystery Dungeon' series kind of falls into its own genre, though, it looks like the developers will be breaking the cycle in 2015."
Other "Pokémon" titles for Nintendo 3DS are free-to-play games such as "Pokémon Shuffle" and "Pokémon Rumble World." "Shuffle" is a match-three game. It is the company's take on a "Candy Crush"-style system. "Rumble World" is another freemium game where players battle and collect different types of Pokémon.
