Clove oil is derived from the clove bud which is used as a spice. When the clove buds are distilled, clove oil is extracted from them.

The principle ingredient in clove oil is Eugenol. Again clove oil is rich in calcium, iron, sodium, phosphorus, potassium and vitamin A and C. clove oil is known for anti-bacterial, antiseptic, antiviral and stimulating properties.

The health benefits of clove oil are vast and include supporting the health of liver, skin, hair and mouth. But below are the three most common ways, clove oil is used medicinally today.

Clove oil for skin and acne

Clove oil is quite effective for curing acne as it contains as compound 'eugenol', which has antibacterial properties. It can clear, cystic acne and kill the infections thus reducing swelling.

As a natural remedy to eliminate acne, take 3 drops clove oil and mix with 2tsp raw honey. Mix together and wash face. This would drastically reduce the appearances of acne but should be very careful with the amount of clove oil.

Diabetes

Studies have shown that pure clove oil maintains insulin levels in the blood and thus is useful in curing diabetes. It also strengthens metabolism of the body by maintaining the blood circulation and thus reduce body temperature. Clove oil also purifies the blood.

Gargling with diluted clove oil helps in easing throat pain and irritation. The characteristic smell of clove oil also helps to eliminate bad breath.

Clove oil, when mixed with salt and applied in forehead, gives a cooling effect. Clove oil has many flavonoids within it, which are anti-inflammatory agents, so when used topically, anti-inflammatory ease the inflammation and relieve the pain.

Nausea

Another amazing effect of clove oil is helps in reducing nausea and vomiting and it is often used in pregnancy related morning sickness and discomfort.

Ingestion

Clove oil has traditionally been effective for the stomach related problems such as hiccups, indigestion, motion sickness and flatulence.
