Instead of running to the pharmacy to find the laxatives to help your upset stomach, there's actually home remedies that could fix the problem for you.
Laxatives, also known as purgatives are forms of drugs, compounds or foods that have the ability to induce bowel movements, especially in the case of constipation. The laxatives can either be consumed or delivered in suppository form (inserted into the body through the rectum). Natural laxatives come in the form of vegetables, fruits and other compounds. They work by loosening the stool and if consumed in high doses can also cause diarrhea.
Here are some home remedies:
*Castor oil is the best known natural laxative ever. Having a teaspoon of castor oil as soon you wake up in the morning, is a good way to promote easy bowel movements and to treat constipation.
*Mix a teaspoon of honey in a glass of warm water and have this twice a day to relieve constipation.
*Mix half cup orange juice with half cup olive oil and take this mixture twice a day.
*Drinking aloe Vera juice, once in the morning and once in the evening can produce an effective laxative effect in case of constipation.
*Having half a lemon squeezed into a glass of warm water and drinking this will help relieve constipation.
*Have a mixture of one teaspoon of corn syrup added to a glass of water. This is a very good laxative and colon cleanser.
*An early morning cup of tea or coffee may work as a good laxative for some. However, getting habituated to this is not a very good option.
*A teaspoon of honey or castor oil should be taken with a teaspoon of lemon juice on an empty stomach, to treat constipation.
*For babies suffering from constipation, make a mixture of raisin juice, mixed with a little butter and feed the baby this mixture, thrice a day. This will work as a mild laxative which best suits the baby's underdeveloped digestive system.
*For constipation in children, prepare a suppository, of betel leaf stalk, mixed with castor oil. Provide enema to the child, until the constipation is completely cured.
*Papayas, bananas, apples, avocados and figs are fruits, that if consumed as juice, can be very good laxatives.
*Pear juice is a great laxative as well as a good colon cleanser.
*Yogurt works as a good natural laxative for some people. Yogurt mixed with sugar will enhance the effect of the laxative.
These naturally available laxatives will help relieve constipation and its associated symptoms, but the best thing to do would be to prevent constipation.
