An optical illusion that changes the color of a woman’s face has gone viral, blowing everyone’s minds in the process.
The viral illusion features an image of a blue face with white hair next to a white panel, according to the NY Daily News. Viewers who stare at the center of the face for 15 seconds, then look at the blank white panel are able to see the creepy blue image transform into a dark-haired woman.

The illusion is the result of a negative afterimage, according to The Huffington Post. Dr. Juno Kim of the University of NSW School of Optometry and Vision Science reportedly stated that humans have three channels for seeing color, including grayscale, red-green and blue-yellow.
These channels reportedly relay information from the back of the eye to the brain, according to Kim.
“When you look at something that, for example, is yellow for a long period of time, you stimulate the cells that are positively sensitive to yellow,” explained Kim.
However, if you were to stare a fixed point for a period of time, as done for this optical illusion, the cells reportedly won’t immediately return to a normal state.
“When you direct your gaze at a uniform background… the cell doesn’t return to its resting activity, it goes much lower than that,” Kim stated.
Take a look. Do you see her too?
