Jia Jia, the oldest living panda, just celebrated her 37th birthday.
The holder of two Guinness World Records — one for the oldest ever and the oldest living giant panda — was able to celebrate her birthday with a vegetable ice cake and bamboo, according to NBC News.
Typical panda life expectancy is around 20 years and only eight of about 400 living in captivity are older than 30, according to the Hong Kong Ocean Park’s veterinary service director Paolo Martelli.
“It’s quite exceptional to reach such an old age for a panda,” stated Martelli, according to The Huffington Post.
Jia Jia was reportedly sent to Hong Kong Ocean Park with her mate, An An, who just celebrated his 29th birthday, back in 1999. They were reportedly given by China to mark the second anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover.

Jia Jia reportedly gave birth to six babies. Four of them are still living. As she reached her 37th birthday, Jia Jia turned 110 years old in human age. Although she suffers from high blood pressure and arthritic pain, her health remains stable.
