Fifty-year-old Glenn Beck, who used to host Fox News and is now managing his own network called TheBlaze, shares on Monday, November 10, a secret he's been keeping from the public for quite some time now: he's been battling a series of ailments that are putting his life in danger.
In a series of videos, Beck spoke comprehensively for the first time about the symptoms he has been feeling for many years. These symptoms eventually progressed, leaving him dysfunctional at certain times.
Amid some tears and with Tania by his side, he tried to explain his health battles, sometimes with images or videos to stress his points. Some of the things he experienced included lacking the ability to sleep normally as he found himself staying awake until the wee hours of the morning. This eventually forced him to hire two assistants, one of whom had to work with him through the night.
He also felt phantom physical pain, including the feeling of getting pricked at his foot. Sometimes it was so painful that he found his wife awake at night checking his foot to make sure there's no glass that may have embedded itself on his skin.
Soon, the experiences became worse. He developed seizures that tended to get worse when he's overworked or when he's flying. He often found himself curling like a ball, with friends and family trying to "uncurl" him.
He was also losing his memory as he could not easily remember faces and names.
As his symptoms worsened, he made some huge decisions including moving to Dallas in the hope the better climate might suit him.
He also sought medical help, but doctors weren't able to give him a clear diagnosis, only that if they continued, he may only have at most a decade to function.
Citing his faith in God and calling his experiences as humbling, Beck eventually found Carrick Brain Centers, which was also in Texas, which diagnosed him with adrenal fatigue and an autoimmune disorder called Addison's disease.
Beck eventually changed his lifestyle and received treatments for these diseases, and he now believes he has got his health back.
